THE LAST DAY OF YOUR LIFE - 20 QUESTIONS TO PONDER
What would you do if you woke up tomorrow knowing it would be your last day on this earth?
Ask a thousand people and get a thousand different answers.
1. Would you spend 24 hours in silent prayer; and wonder if your end would cause anyone a care?
2. Would you try to forgive yourself and atone; or find yourself in misery and all alone?
3. Would your family be your first priority; or will you spend this day in strict solitary?
4. Would you plan your last super to be; your favorite meal and enjoying your gluttony?
5. Would you drink yourself into oblivion; or soberly spend that day with your next of kin?
6. Would you pray for forgiveness for a lifetime of misery; or reflect on all the good you have done in silent reverie?
7. Would you rejoice for spending a lifetime in prayer; or wonder if anyone even heard them and gave a care?
8. Would you know your lifetime really mattered; to anyone but yourself, or to those you battered?
9. Would you forgive those who did you any wrong; or would your wish for vengeance still be strong?
10. Would you finally let go your judgemental hate; or keep it with pride to face your final fate?
11. Would you have intimate relations one last time; or have regret for denying yourself pleasures in your prime?
12. Would you cling to your belief that your hate was true; or finally realize it also damaged you?
13. Would you realize how much time you have wasted; judging others without the sweetness of victory tasted?
14. Would you know your life was spend as best it could be; by hateful words and actions ruining the lives of your "enemy"?
15. Would you take that "pride" to your very grave; of knowing the hurt, to so many others, you gave?
16. Would you ask their forgiveness in your saviour's name; or believe you were right and without any blame?
17. Would you do anything different if you could extend your life; or continue to inflict pain, sorrow and greater strife?
18. Would you feel content that you did "god's" work; or know a doubt deep in your soul did lurk?
19. Would you know that inflicting pain and sorrow; was wrong and still expect God's forgiveness tomorrow?
20. Would you be ready to face your own judgement day; when you insist all the harm you've done was truly God's way?
We are all guilty of judging others by our own standards, as most see themselves as the perfect human specimen. But judging others is not the problem. It is the action we take after making those judgments that is the problem.
I wrote this after reading a hub that says, their bible says, that God said to go out and judge others.
That statement is one of the worst examples of sheer ignorance i have ever heard. No Man has ever "heard" those words from God. Written words of man (male, female or otherwise) are simply the manifestations of the mind of the author of those words. Feeling pious is never justification for judging others on "moral" grounds or acting upon those judgements to torment and destroy another person's life.
This is the dire consequence of brain washing an innocent child's mind. Replacing rationality and logic with unfounded fear and justifying hatred, bigotry and intolerance in order to reconcile what they know, as an adult, to be just that - illogical, irrational, unfounded, unjustified, and just plain ignorant.
If these words hurt anyone's feelings, then good - just think of how much more pain you inflict on others by spewing your hatred on them.

Judging others - don't do it unless you want to be judged as well. Always judge another by the way you would want to be judged. No man has the right to judge another.

Hi, long time no see,
I was reading this and thinking, hmmm, I didn't think he was an organized religion kind of guy. I did like many of the questions, and then I realized what you were doing. I think I would just be with my family and talk, be like we always are. You are so right in that judgements and hate really rip a person apart. Emotions like that actually make people physically sick. Anyway, glad to see your're still thinking straight, you scared me for a minute.

Thanks for reading and commenting. This sheer idiocy of organized religions getting away with what they do, including not having to pay taxes for running their businesses, really irritates me. Those idiotic republicans in those idiotic debates that invoke the name of God and religion in their lies is another major source of irritation.
They are forcing me to write another one about this craziness. L.O.L. (You do realize that if i were saying these things a few hundred years ago the government would have thrown me in jail by now, and i would have been hung upside down on a cross.)
Sadly enough even today, i am putting my life on the line by speaking against those crazy religious zealots.
I just simply can not understand how intelligent, logical and rational people today can still believe all that crap.

The trouble with articles like this is that the folks that should be introspective and learning from it are the least likely to learn from it.It is very easy for some to cling to absurd notions about what God wants than it is to reconcile beliefs with reality. I don't know how I'd spend my last day, perhaps just saying goodbye to some loved ones or just doing the same routine as always.

People who espouse Christian beliefs - the relationship, not the religious trappings - take their life in their hands too. It seems society tolerates everything but Christianity. Just saying... If you read more into this than what I said, you have judged me. Other than that, you had some good questions.
i would set all my affairs in order so that none that love me be inconvenienced when i die.i would also like to tell all those that i love that i loved them- cause that is the me i want them to carry with them when i am no longer there.
Always happy to make anyone smile and laugh :). The R idiots who claim to be so religious are so hypocritical I cannot understand it at all. It was the Bush administration and the death of my childhood friend which caused me to read the Bible. I was looking for answers, and wondering how Bush could justify war and all the garbage he was doing under the guise of Christianity. My Bible study took a year, and I came away from it thinking many misinterpret it, I'm very different, or both! Jesus clearly states, "The kingdom is within you." Within you. In your bodies, chakras, so the energies reach that 7th one, called God consciousness or full consciousness gets your best energies. Jesus said his disciples would all go on to do better things than he. So he was telling us we all can do what he did! He meditated, and preached love. All these twisted people may not like gays, or not like wars they didn't start, or want to tell their neighbors if they can use birth control or not. That's nuts. Santorum actually brought home a stillborn child and slept with it in a bed with his 5 or 6 other children. That's not sweet, it's sick. Really, it's in Wikipedia. I would be in jail over this in olden times too, but I'd have good company at least :).
I would want to spend it with Family and Friends...I would want them to know how much I Loved them and what a difference they had made in my life and I hope Me, in theirs. I'd want to be by the Ocean and have a Beautiful "spread" of Foods, and Wines that we all Loved...I want soft Music to be playing...and last but not least, to have No regrets for the Life that I had led.

I certainly do not expect to change the world's view of organized religions, but if just one or two people can see how silly their beliefs really are, then it is at least a start in the right direction. It still amazes me that something so insidious has permeated our entire world cultures. There is so much fear of God by the zealots and, the prevailing attitude is: I'd rather remain with my religion and find out after death it was absurd, than to abandon it and find out after death that it was the only way to my salvation. What kind of logic is that? The two videos i attached say it all.

thanks for your comments. And i highly doubt that you are not intelligent, illogical, or irrational. We can cling to our beliefs as we need to, it is our constitutional right to do so, but if we follow ANYTHING blindly, we are blinding ourselves to the possibilities of another way of looking at things, and often times a better way. This is why i also do not take too kindly to folks who follow their political parties blindly, when they and only looking at a one sided point of view. We must look at both sides with an open mind and be able to reconcile the differences between what is right and what is wrong.
For instance the republican party fights tooth and nail for their corporate friends and allies, and the democratic party fights for the rights of the individuals as is stated in our very own constitution. We can keep our loyalties to whomever we want to, but logic must prevail and whatever we believe must fit the needs of the majority of the people. Religion has its place in society, in a limited psychological way for those who need that attachment, but should not be imposed on everyone either through our government, the media, public venues, or on an individual basis.

Thank YOU for reading and your thoughtful comments. It IS quite sad when people do all their harm to others and then justify it to themselves because they are doing "God's" work. It is a pitiful, and selfish God that they worship. Mine does not judge anyone on this earth unless it is for doing harm to another human being. There are really no sins against God, but rather toward each other. I believe in Karma, and those who hurt others will have to make some kind of atonement for that harm, but MY God does not condemn anyone to eternal damnation. So, i will continue to pay homage to my own God, not those that organized religions have conjured up to frighten people into submission to other human beings.

Thanks for visiting and your comments. And your statement that "society tolerates anything but Christianity" is not really factual. That kind of reasoning is established when anyone runs up against anyone else that does not believe the way they do. It is like blaming the victim for the crime against them. It is not the Cristian that people object to, it is the way Christians attack anything that they do not understand, or are taught to believe is against their religiously narrow beliefs. We all have the right to worship whatever, and whomever we wish to, but when we try to impose our beliefs onto others, either directly, or via governmental mandating of morality, it is expected that we who oppose will stand up and speak against this forcing of religion on us. I could care less what others believe, but i will fight to keep their beliefs out of politics and out of my (and others') personal life.

excellent points and i agree with you 100%. I too have read the bible several times, and can not substantiate any of it as fact. It makes for good reading, a good tool for brainwashing children into submission by fear, intimidation, and guilt, but factual? Not so much. About on the same level as Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny.

Thanks for your comments. I think your family already knows how much love you have for them. I guess the main thing i have, is knowing that i have done the best i could with my life, and am ready and willing to accept any punishments or rewards that await my passing from this material realm. (That is, of course, assuming that there is really something thereafter). No one has every come back and told us directly that there is, or is not, a life hereafter.

Thank you for your comments. Although it is true that both sides fight for power, this has nothing to do with the fact of what each party stands for. It is like comparing apples and oranges.
There is no disputing the facts that the GOP favors the wealthy, big business and corporate America, and the Democrats favor equal rights, individual freedoms, etc..., nor the fact that they both are vying for power and control.
Hi, D, Scripture is very clear on that "don't worry about the spec in the other's eye, while there is a rafter in your own". "Let he that is without sin throw the first stone". There are countless other examples. There should be no one running around here with a halo over his or her head.
