My Gnarly Family Tree
AND GOD SAID" LET THERE BE LIGHT"
Not just physical light. But the light bulb that goes on in your head when you finally 'get' the message.
Firstly let me say that the following data is pure fact.
There can be no mistake about the truth of the genetic factor in the cause of homosexuality.
Another fact that anyone with a brain that only half works, must conclude is that God makes "no" mistakes. Mistakes are only the manifestations of man. This is especially true when you consider the scale of the prevalence of homosexuality throughout every nation, nationality, culture, continent, family and social unit on this planet.
The next fact is that "nature" was created by God, for those of you who must insist on believing in something greater than yourself. Finally, just by the nature of the sheer numbers, the conglomeration of such diverse and conflicting religious sects, is proof enough of how distorted these beliefs have become at the hands of human beings. {Assuming of course that there is only One creator}. Those human beings, who all had their own agendas, when they established their own religions, after finding their personal ideas to be irreconcilably conflicted with their host religious affiliates. Leading to the logical conclusion that their incongruous input should be discounted as having little or no credence at all.
Because of the prevalence of various religions throughout the world, and the violence that each one has displayed throughout its life span proves nothing, except, that its very presence has been predicated and perpetuated through the ages, based on fear and misconceptions, half truths, and lies. The fear, and guilt, that each religion generously disperses throughout its dogma equates to nothing more than control through terror. Ergo, religion equates to terrorism at its most basic.
With this being said, thereby negating the religious zealots' allegations that 'God abhors homosexuals' as well as all the other preposterous imaginary stories depicted in their most holy texts.
Now with logic explaining the irrelevance of religious claims, here is my family tree through 3 generations. Both my parents came from large families. I am only including 3 generations because i do not know from first hand knowledge before that, and cannot know what the next generation will unfold.
Are you ready for this?
My father had 2 brothers that were 'afflicted' with the gayness gene.
My mother had 2 brothers and 1 sister also 'afflicted' with the gayness gene.
My parents had 11 children. Listed below in no particular order, and nameless to protect the innocent and their anonymity.
- #1. had 2 children: Both were heterosexual. 1 of these had 2 children: 1 heterosexual. 1 homosexual.
- #2. had 3 children: 1 homosexual, 1 heterosexual, 1 bisexual
- #3. had 4 children: 1 was heterosexual, 3 were homosexual. One of the 3 married and had 2 offspring. Both were homosexual.
- #4. had 7 children: 3 were homosexual, 4 heterosexual.
- #5. was born homosexual. no children
- #6. was born homosexual. no children
- #7. had 2 children: both heterosexual.
- #8. had 2 children: 1 heterosexual, 1 homosexual.
- #9. had 2 children: both heterosexual.
- #10 and # 11 both died at childbirth.
There is no history of mental abuse, sexual abuse, or physical abuse or any other attributes that our most learned (and misinformed or uninformed) 'doctors' or 'religious leaders' who were borne and bred of ignorant superstitions, would have you believe was a root cause for this anomaly in this one family alone. In our society if you can't explain something, simply give it a name, call it a disease, or blame it on the devil.
Stop for one moment and just take a look all the great revelations and all the exciting discoveries recently uncovered in the universe that this planet is part of. Realize that this little planet 'earth' is but one grain of sand on an endless beach of space and time. Look at how everything in this eternal vacuum of space relates to everything else around it, how it works in perfect unison, and tell me, or yourselves, that you can still believe that any god worth his (or her) weight in salt could make such an 'error'.?
And, please do not insult even the most basic intelligence of mankind by purporting that somehow this is the work of "Satan". This is sheer lunacy. Keep your silly fantasies to yourself.
The concepts of "Good and Evil" are only ignorant superstitions manifested in the minds of those gullible people who cannot explain anything they do not understand, or deduce, by logical reasoning.
Religion, politics for profit, and greed: The most evil and destructive forces in this world. And they are the driving forces of our very culture. This is a sad tribute to our so called "civilized" society.
My best guesses for this anomaly? That the creator:
- A. has a profound and odd sense of humor
- B. directed "mother nature" to manipulate the genetic coding to prevent over population resulting in inevitable destruction of this beautiful and fragile creation that we call 'earth'
- C. had no control of how the process of evolution would.., well.., evolve.
Oh, and here's a P.S. for you non-believers in the truth. No-one in their right minds would "choose" an "alternate lifestyle" that is so hated and abused in all societies around the world.
Homosexuality is a part of our very human nature. It is here to stay. So live your own lives in concert with your very basic religious beliefs and allow others to do the same in peace and harmony.

Thanks for taking time to read and comment. Although i do not consider this fact as a 'theory', i have known other families with similar inherited traits. The truths of the matter cannot be accepted in our society with the current mentality of hate and judgemental intolerance based on an antiquated and biased religiously brainwashed society. Sad that along with the genetically inherited physical traits, there is also an inherited belief in fairy tales, hate and intolerance for anything that does not fit the "norm". By the way, do you normally indulge in gay bashing?

I am a heterosexual , a non-practicing spiritual person. Serious question that maybe you can help me with! First I should say , I have no problem with gay people. They are here ....lets live with it! But why should somewhere between 11 and 18 percent of the population{gays} make 50 percent or more of the political and media's noise! I live in a liberal state , and the media is as focused on gay issues as it used to be on news period. I do not believe in gay Marriages as I felt that civil unions covered any basic dicrepencies in the law . Do you believe that gays are more vocal than any other entity in media today?......Interesting hub!

Welcome to my hubpages heterosexual (although i do not see the need to define yourself as such). I do not usually define anyone by their sexual orientation, race, nationality or their religious affiliations separately, they do define who we are as individuals in total.
First of all, the comment: "They are here...lets live with it" is offensive on so many levels. You are putting yourself on a higher level of importance than others? I do not think anyone is worthy of that distinction based on their gender, or 'moral' fortitude.
Yes, the media discusses the gay issues as they relate to their persecution by religious boobs as well as the rest of our society. If, as you say, gays are more vocal than any other entity, they certainly have good reason to be. This is the only group left without equality under the law. The only group that discrimination is mandated by law. The only group of people that are denied the advantages of what 'marriage' entitles everyone else. And PLEASE do not insult anyone's intelligence by stating that sexual orientation is a 'choice' or 'immoral' in the eyes of the self-righteous. Because YOU do not believe in 'gay marriages' does not make it a mandate for everyone else. Your opinions are yours to keep, not to force on anyone else.
There was such violence and outrage by the general public when the black population demanded equality, that it was abhorrent (extremely repugnant) to view by those of us who view equality, and the right to pursue happiness as a god given right for everyone.
And by the way, spirituality does not have anything to do with the mandating of morality on others.
May I say as a retired gay man from Scotland that I am mightily impressed by the clarity and logic you exhibit in your Hub? Of course you're correct! As a scientist I am intensely interested to find out exactly what the biology is behind being born gay - is it neural pathways, different amino acid order in the genes, hormonal release in the womb or what? I'm a chemist so I apologise if the previous biological phrases don't make sense. Your paragraphs about the effects of organised religion on the human race are perfect - something that has always been in my head but expressed so well by yourself - power, guilt and fear.
It disappoints me that gay marriage is taking so long to happen in the US federally - it will! In Scotland we're nearly there!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Genetic caused birth anomalies are merely a slight alteration of DNA sequencing.
If one believes in a Creator that has the capacity to alter life on this (or any other) planet in the universe, would you not also believe that this minor alteration of our genetic sequencing is the only way to slow down, or prevent, the destruction of this fragile planet by the stupidity of humans who are allowed to proliferate unchecked to the point of extinction?
Mankind has so arrogantly set itself to the level of the creator, when we try to genetically alter ANYTHING just for the sake of being able to do so. (ie: genetically altering our food supply without knowing, or even considering, the unforeseen consequences of it).
If we see mankind making these decisions for their own selfish reasons, then why is it so difficult to believe in a Creator that can do the same thing for more altruistic reasons? Our religions teach that their Gods are wrathful against mankind's list of 'sins', but not benevolent enough to make sure that humanity survives in spite of mans best efforts to destroy it. If this is truly the will of our Creator, then we can expect many more "same-sex" attractions being manifested in our population growth.
We spend so much time judging others, pointing fingers, and listening to the hate mongers, posing as religious leaders, to appreciate the wonders of nature and the greatness of our universal formulation.
As with all societal changes of the past, this too will survive and one day we will look back on it as we do the stupidity of fighting against women's rights, the abolishment of slavery, interracial marriages, to name a few.
As i grew up in a world of hatred and bigotry, i never imagined that we would be able to progress as far as we have today in my lifetime. Unfortunately, there has been much opposition to societal changes, many lives destroyed, much suffering, pain, and needless murders by those conservatives that resist change, or fear the unknown of the future.
Enjoy your retirement. I have spent a lifetime hiding from discrimination, and today find much fulfillment in expressing my disdain for a world steeped in hatred and ignorance.
I may see a violent end to my lifetime, as i have been threatened by radicals many times, but my words of encouragement for those most vulnerable in our society (our gay youth) will not be removed from the annals of time through this wonderful media of the "world wide web". This media is more powerful than any local venue for enlightenment against bigotry, hatred and violence. We must all stand united against this hatred, bigotry, violence and ignorance.

I must tell you about a news discussion item I saw at lunchtime today. The item was about possible Republican candididates for the Presidential Election. A very well-respected British journalist called them all 'nuts' and said that he had never known the GOP to be in such disarray. This was on the BBC!
So, Mr Obama will win!!

The water is not too deep, you will only get your feet wet, unless of course you choose to lay down in it. L.O.L.
They say a person can actually drown in a teaspoon of water, although i have never know this to happen.
I was away from hub pages for several weeks after the fire on my property, and having a "trojan" in my computer (i used to only have those in my wallet), but times have changed.
I went through a period of depression, and when i finally got over it i wrote my comeback hub "How we profoundly Affect Someone's Life" and am spending way too much time on this computer trying to catch up on reading. I never miss Cal's hubs, so i have a lot of reading to do to catch up. But i will get them all in the near future.
