How We Profoundly Affect Someone's Life

Our words and deeds often impact the lives of others without our realizing their profundity.

Profound by definition:

• having intellectual depth and insight.
• difficult to fathom or understand.
• extending far below the surface.
• coming from, reaching to, or situated at, a depth (deep-seated).
• characterized by intensity of feeling or quality.
• all encompassing.
• complete.

This expounder of the word profound may seem somewhat trite to the intellectual, but the emphasis is to show the force, or intensity, in careful and explicit detail how the effects of our words and deeds, in fact, do affect others - ex post facto (after the fact). Whether intentional or not (or) for good or bad.

There are "intentional" psychic assaults on others for a variety of "personal" reasons. These first "types" are obvious by their very nature. They are listed here only to name them for clarification purposes:

• hatred - real, implied, or imagined
• bigotry - ignorant fear
• racism - feelings of "superiority" over others
• ignorance - uneducated illogical conclusions
• self imposed judgementalism (i am better than you because....)
• intolerance - indoctrinated radical religious cultus beliefs.

These vicious, mean, vindictive, deliberately hateful, hurtful and obvious in nature, are not the subjects of this article.

Instead, we are exploring other (words and deeds) that impact other people's lives that are just as profound whether intentional or not. 3 examples below:

1st: (is of a personal nature). When i bought my "wooded" 10 acres of land to retire on, i had a dream of a peaceful, unobtrusive retirement in which i would co-exist in harmony with nature. The land was full of trees, flowers, birds, rabbits, land tortoises (and various insects). It was private, secluded and quite serene. A place that i envisioned my last days here on earth would be spent in peaceful harmony with nature for me and my dogs and cats.

On December 22, 2011, all that changed. My neighbors decided to burn trash in their backyard. They left the ashes unattended. The wind picked up, re-igniting the fire that started a brush fire that rapidly spread through the dry leaves and brush (from lack of rain).

As you can see, it destroyed 2/3 of this beautiful, serene, peaceful wooded retirement parcel and left my home standing (approximately 30 feet) from the fire containment trench dug by the fire department; and destroyed the fenced in area that my pets and i enjoyed for many years (and 3 of those were the first 3 years of my retirement). It left us completely exposed to neighbors and removed all privacy and serenity that was to be my blissful retirement sanctuary.

I know this was not an "intentional" act by my neighbor, and they will never fully understand how devastating this was to me, or how profoundly it has negatively impacted my life. The ensuing depression that i have been enduring since then seems to be diminishing with time, and as i have always believed - everything happens for a reason. I would have been content to remain here til i pass on, but now - not so much.

Throughout my life time, each time i asked for "guidance" from my "guiding angels" after some equally devastating event occurred that compelled me to move forward in another direction. And each time the new challenge was rewarding and fulling and i felt i was where i was meant to be after these changes were made. So the future is wide open, as is my lost privacy, and wherever my destiny takes me, i will make the best of it.

2nd. (involves the innate "meanness" in some people). I have done little to nothing on Hub Pages due to the depression over the fire and total loss of any desire, or inspiration, to write anything at all. Compounded by the fact that my computer was getting slower and slower and i could not fix it, just added to my depression. So, i took all this as a "sign" that i was meant to take a respite from writing on line, to meditate and regroup my thoughts as to whether i was doing more harm than good by my writings on the negativism of organized religions on the psyche of the global mentality.

Through this depressive state, I prayed and meditated, and took my shovel, axe and rake and went to work on my destroyed land. I have since repaired the damaged fencing, shoveled mounds of dirt and raked the bulldozer ruts from the firemen digging their "fire containment" trenches across my lost beautiful 10 acres of woods and all the serenity they offered.

Last week i had my epiphany that i must continue to "inform" those who have the intelligence to understand that their brainwashing can be overcome without that embedded fear of death by a "vengeful God" that those religions plant into the minds of all the unsuspecting children; including us and all those who came before us, and after us. It was my validation of what i needed to do for my small part in helping societal changes that need to be made for a positive future.

My depression is gone, but the spirit remains and (if we survive the impending predicted demise of humanity in 2012), I will surely find my "calling" for the remaining years here on this planet. It will undoubtedly be outside the state of Florida as this state is totally lost to such idiots as our new Governor and his evil minions. There is still hope for New England ... Changes generally emanate from that part of the country and that is where i must return to be part of those future changes while am still on this planet.

Anyway, as usual, i digress. I was determined to either "fix" my computer, or bury it. It took me several days to find the cause (multiple "tracking cookies", "ad-ware", "spy ware" and a "Trojan" viciously embedded in my computer were the culprits. After cleaning them from my computer i have a much faster P.C. and a renewed verve to face the future with anticipation and conviction.

3rd. (oddly enough i found this to be a "sign" also that has given me greater energy and commitment). After my P.C. was working again at full capacity this (picture below) appeared in my email. The timing could not have been better. I have written 6 articles in my series of "14 vicious republican attacks on America" - and voila´ - there appeared on my screen, an email from "moveon.org" (link provided below) entitled "15 assaults by the GOP in 2010" All politically motivated to draw the public attentions away from their actual motives (actions and deeds) that would change and diminish our freedoms, equality and quality of life for years to come.

NONE of the "15 assaults" are any where near altruistic in nature. (Is this our new political environmental legacy?) We must not let it be so.

Altruism: 1. Unselfish regard for, or devotion to, the welfare of others. 2. behavior by any animal that is not beneficial to, or may be harmful to itself, but that benefits others of its species. (Now ask yourselves, does this description belong to any of the 15 assaults listed?

I am back, I am bad, mad and emboldened by the blatant lies, political pandering and flagrant display of uncountable, unprecedented millions-billions-trillions of dollars being poured into this upcoming presidential election to buy the favors (and the souls) of the incoming politicians. This will be the deciding factor for our future as a Democracy, Plutocracy, or a 'Corpora-tocracy' (Protagoras) that will undoubtedly endure throughout this millennium.
