FUNNY and SAD - Like the Windmills of your mind - A Poem

I recently ran across a book of poetry that i wrote between the ages of 7 and 18. Here is one of them.

FUNNY AND SAD

Funny how only one day can bring;

and take away, a song to sing.

Funny how the tender night so cool;

can leave you, at dawn, a petty fool.

Funny how time that once was gay;

can quickly and silently be swept away.

Funny how the hours we spend so dear;

can't feel the presence of sadness near.

Sad how the good times so rapidly go;

and time again passes, much too slow.

Sad the good memories washed away by tears;

that flood out love, and dam in fears.

Sad how the love that made each day glad;

now makes the dread of the night so bad.

Sad how we cling to our best memories;

and ignore the now, for living of these.

Funny how we lose so much over night.

Sad how quickly we run out of fight.

Funny how love's swept away on a breeze.

Sad how we struggle so, not to please.

Funny the forgiveness that's flatly denied.

Sad just how many times we've lied.

Funny the "i love you's" spoken in haste.

Sad that so many lives must go to waste.
