CAN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY RECOVER? DO THOSE IN POWER EVEN WANT IT TO?

A BOLD NEW APPROACH TO CURE THE SICK ECONOMY
CAN GLOBAL ECONOMY RECOVER?
DO THOSE IN POWER EVEN WANT IT TO?
PART ONE:
There are only 3 basic necessities to a successful economic recovery that need to be considered and addressed. All 3 require radical, but necessary, changes.
The U.S. must lead this recovery. Is America up to that task?
I will not attempt to assign any blame for causation of the current economic conditions. That is counter productive. The road to recovery must be a "concerted effort" or recovery will never be successfully achieved. THE 3 STEPS:
1. DEMOCRACY MUST BE PRESERVED. Government "for the people and by the people" must be our basic premise and basic objective, without equivocations, exceptions, or deceptions.
2. CAPITALISM CURRENTLY IN THE FORM OF CORPORATE AMERICA:
- Must be removed from any type of influence over government policies, affairs or special interests what so ever.
- Monopolies must be dissolved to return to the basic principles of capitalism. Then we must put safeguards in place to prevent this problem from every recurring.
- The basic premise of capitalism was having an economic system characterized by private, or corporate, ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decisions, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods, that are determined mainly by competition in a "free market".
- Capitalism as is practiced today can not sustain itself and has reached the point of - change it, or destroy our American way of life.
- Huge conglomerations are fueled by Greed and personal gain - and as we have certainly witnessed, are extremely destructive.
- Small businesses contribute more to the economy and society in general, than huge corporations (monopolies) do, or ever will.
Example of "TOO BIG TO FAIL" - And this is only the Banking Industry
3. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST BE A TOTALLY UNBIASED ENTITY WITH EXPLICIT PURPOSES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Ensuring that equality is maintained.
- Regulating capitalism to limitations on size, and the amount of capital being removed from our economy for personal use.
- Eliminate "Golden Parachutes", Huge bonuses; and instead provide benefits for employees (retirement benefits, health insurance benefits, etc..)
- There should never again be any entity "too big to fail".
- The "regulating agencies" must be impervious to external influences that would favor corporate America, or any other special interest groups; that would harm "the people" in any way.
- Maintain military defenses for protection and preservation of the American people and way of life - not for economic gain by greedy manipulators via unnecessary wars.
- Promote "earth friendly" energy that have unlimited renewal sources (Solar, wind power, water, garbage conversion to produce methane gas, etc..). There is no legitimate reason (other than greed) that every single household in this country should not have its own source of electricity supply, with whatever their choices might be (using solar/wind/electrical generation). (Although these may be present today, they are cost prohibitive due to capitalistic greed -- designed solely to thwart their flourishment and maintain their current control over the market).
- No nuclear powered facilities should be used to "create" what can be attained by natural renewable power sources.
Once these 3 major components are modified to adapt to a Democratic society's needs the following SECONDARY CHANGES will follow to insure that Democracy is restored without the ability to again corrupt our society with the evilness of GREED AND SELFISHNESS OF A FEW.
- Distance all religious affiliations from government in any and all respects. The government has no business regulating morality. And religion has no business trying to regulate our government, or this country.
- Reversing Supreme Court decision to consider corporations the same status as an individual.
- Start taxing "religious" entities as the businesses they truly are. People can still maintain their freedoms to believe in what ever they want, belong to any group affiliations they desire as long as they do not infringe on the personal rights of other people around them.
- Get rid of all lobbyists as they do not represent "the people" in any way, shape or form so their function as bribery agents will no longer be required.
- Get rid of NYSE as it exists today or put much more restrictive regulations on these money mongers. (see my review of the NYSE below)
- Do not make laws (and reverse those already in place) that only benefit politicians, big business, or special interest groups, rather than all of the people.
- Political parties must represent "The People" only.
- Political contributions must not be made by any special interest groups. If politicians are caught taking these bribes, they should be removed from office immediately.
- All corporations taxed the same without loopholes, or tax breaks. (There actually won't be any need for them without the huge monopolies to suck up every dollar they can from our economy).
- Lower tax rates and start up fees for small businesses to encourage their development and growth. Also encourage and reward those small businesses who allot "shares" to their employees (as investors) and include all employees in business decisions. This will also include how exorbitant net profits are to be allotted.
- There should NEVER be any corporation deemed "too big to fail".
A VIEW OF THE LARGE SCALE PICTURE:
- Major Goal: Stop the greed and focus on the needs of ALL the people. There is NO sane reason for even allowing the 1% versus 99% disparity to continue or exist at all. ALL conditions (within our society) must be attuned to (bring into harmony) only the benefits of all the people, and to discourage, or promote the ultimate elimination of the "Greed" factor from our society. In spite of the corporate America's assertions - greed is NOT a good thing to creating, sustaining and maintaining a democratic society.
We must never make the mistake of running our government on the principles of running a business, or on any religious principles.
We must move toward reversing the current trend and going back to local, community, and state: banking, farming, all types of manufacturing, and insurance providers.
We must start using American Made products and importing only those things that we cannot produce or manufacture here, and exporting of only the excesses of goods manufactured here.
This maneuver would create jobs, eliminate huge greedy corporations, insure food safety, and restore the balance here at home in the U.S.A., which must be our first priority.
all activities to be regulated by each corresponding Government agency to insure fairness, prevent wall street influences and ultimately eliminate the Greed from our society.
But, the ultimate questions still remain:
- Has the U.S. government gone beyond its proverbial event horizon and can not recover?
- Is the governmental corruption so ingrained there are not enough honest politicians to create the needed changes?
- Is the Democratic party of the people too weak and without strong enough leaders to make the necessary changes that will benefit all Americans, not just the 1% who run it today?
2012 will be the true test of strength between the power of "the will of the people (the 99%)" or the power of "the almighty dollar (the 1%)".

D.William, this was awesome my friend. Like Jim said, I think you write from your head, and your heart. The sad thing is everything you said is true. There are so many things broken now, I would not have a clue where to start fixing. I'm fairly sure that right now or Government is treading lightly when it comes to closing loopholes for Large Corporations. All we need right now is for a few more to drag up and move to China and taking more job with them.
D.William, to some degree I agree with you. Right now, it is attractive for them to move to China for all the reasons you stated. If we made it impossible or highly expensive to bring their goods back to the US, they might not be so willing to make the move. It gets even uglier than you described. By today's laws, they are able to declare their profits in low tax countries, and all of their losses in the US. The tax laws need to change, and change quickly, to stop this sort of activity.
This sort of thing only touches the surface of these issues. The deeper you dig the madder you get. The problem is that all of this is within the law the way the laws are written today. I'd be reasonably sure this started as a favor to one Politicians crony, and as others found out about it they figured they might as well join the club. We shouldn't blame the Corporations as much as we do our own tax codes. When they declare an allowable tax deduction, only a fool would turn it down.
For what it's worth, I'm studying trade. Weird stuff gentlemen. I was the one running around saying "F- China, stick it to THEM for a change with trade deals. They need us more than we need them." We have to be very careful how we deal with China. They would win a trade war. The Chinese people would endure as much hardship as the government needed to win the war. Not so with Americans. They could damn near break us. We have to be very careful how we even the odds here. they are prideful people and aren't afraid to get stupid.
That's a little off point, but I needed to mention it.
jim
Jim, there is a great deal of truth to what you say. We would lose a trade war with China for the very reasons you gave. It would be an ugly thing to happen. The difference is pretty clear that China goes out of their way to attract new business, and here we throw up every roadblock we can, along with truckloads of paperwork that must be filled out to even see if you will be allowed to start a new company. This should be telling us something.........
Business wise I failed twice in California. I just didn't have the bank roll to play the game. If you want to fix the economy and illegal immigration. Study California and do the oposite. You will be extremely successful. That's all I'll say about unnecessary business choking regulations. I'm not saying get rid of regulations. I'm just saying we need to go through them and throw the silly ones away. I'm speaking from first hand experience. The pocket book.
jim
You read my mind. We need to take more of a regional approach for one thing. You are astute in that Powers here and around the world are centralizing the banking industry. The FDIC has been playing Pac Man with regional and community banks. Especially in Florida and the south in general. They give a mysterious stress test, fail the bank, wipe it off the board at the SEC and give the cash and assets to a huge bank with a sentence map mentality, a mind numbing corporate culture and reduced services. The employees they keep are intimidated and the stock holders lose all of their money. They got some of mine.
This is called federal confiscation and redistribution of wealth. It took place during the Nazi take over of Germany, the communist revolts in Latin America, and now the New World Order in the U.S. Remember, Pres. Obama did not introduce this concept (Glen Beck notwithstanding) Pres. Bush Sr. did. That is scary . . . whoever is in power is going along with the program.
Camping on the street isn't going to get the job done. It is an arduous process that requires long term commitment, organization and reasonable tactics.
Don't take the mark.
D.William - You are so right. Our current President is far from being proactive. We don't need a president from either radical side to replace him. We need someone that can see what is going on from both views, and take the actions that benefit the majority of the people. No single plan or action will ever please everyone.
Interesting hubs d.william. We learn much from one another this way - much more than we learn from the mainstream media. But the most important thing we learn is that we're not alone.
We are on the same page, D. william. I haveto acknowledge that a certain amount of greed is inherent in the capitalist system and is necessary to prod those taking the risks to expend their efforts. The problem is that greed has reached the point to where the society is on the brink of being undone. The regulators for wall street for instance have been in over their heads, what the hell are derivatives? People have no idea of how easily these people can rob them protected by a system that almost encourages it. When 1 guy has accumulated all the marbles in the game against the other, the game is over. Fair and ethical competition is what allows the system to work. When that disappears and people see virtually everything stacked against them, they despair and march. It may serve no other purpose right now but to focus attention on them and the problems that bring them to the streets. But that is better than to acquiesce remain silence while the rape and murder of the middle class, the foundation of American productivity, go unchallenged. Great article, voted up Cred2
My short sweet answer would be...NO, I don't think they do! And how Sad is that? Our country is literally going to the Dogs...We used to be #1 and now we are a MESS...and Bankrupt. Very Interesting Hub D. Williams. Everyone seems to have very insightful Comments.
I'm with Old Pool Man. The problem is, the best candidates aren't in the race. One would be Charlie Crist, who real Floridians love. He got a bad rap from the media, especially Fox and he was a Republican. He got usurped and hung out to dry by his party here over conservation (manatee speed zones, sanctuaries, off shore drilling, swamp preservation, etc.), federal unemployment relief (they got the $, but didn't give it to us) and regulation of developers.
Charley blew them off and went independent. I finally had someone in my party (staunch independent - it's on my card that way) to vote for. Usually, we don't have a candidate at all. The Republicans ran Rick Scott, who walked right out of an episode of the X-Files to cut education (in Florida?), turn down high speed rail in favor of a steam train that his cronies want. Charlie is spending his time more effectively for his constituents by litigating against the insurance companies.
Republicans . . . your folks have put us in the toilet. Democrats . . . your people are splashing in the water.

D.william,
You are a good person, and I will always respect you. You speak from your heart, and that's in itself puts you in an elite group here.
I do not disagree that in theory your ideas are a good thing. In fact, they may be the cure. However, and unfortunatly, we live in a black and white world. People consider that which is not black to be white, and that which is not capitolism to be anti capitolism. What you purpose is "sorta capitolism." Capitpolism without teeth. Capitolism can be cold, even cruel, left unchecked.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you. I'm afraid it's not that easy. It's not that easy, because it's gray. I teeter between the way the world is and the way I wish it were sometimes. Then I have to snap out of it and make decisions that are sometimes hard to make.
I don't always see things the way you do, but you are my friend. You will be attacked on this hub. Any disrespectful attacks on you are an attack on me as well, and I will deal with it as such. Don't let anyone screw with that beautiful attitude, dude.
Keep thinking and keep believing my friend. We. and people like us, CAN fix this mess, by working together..
